This is Volume Sixty-Nine of The East Side Dave Show (with Roy Harter) End Of Times Series from August 17th, 2021.....and it's a very special tribute to Fez Whatley from the Ron & Fez show...who passed away recently at age 57. Fez was one of funniest and most amazing performers in the history of radio. And the Ron & Fez show was one of the greatest radio shows of all time. Fez's loss was felt by countless Ron & Fez fans throughout the world...he will be missed greatly.

The East Side Dave Show (with Roy Harter) will be paying tribute to one of the most talented and amazing performers in the history of radio…Fez Whatley…who passed away recently. Fez was one-half of the Ron & Fez show…one of the greatest radio programs of all time. I’ll be live tonight at 7:30 PM (EST) on CompoundMedia.com to do the show. It’s been very difficult processing the news of Fez’s death…but I promise to do the best I can. I’ll be riding solo this evening for the tribute episode. If it’s all over the place…I apologize…it’s been a weird and rough time. Anyway, we’re gonna give it our all nonetheless! And even though we’ll be doing the show by ourselves, we’ve apparently switched to talking in first person plural! Face!

RIP, Fez Whatley

The world has lost a shining star of comedy. The brilliantly funny Fez Whatley died over the weekend. Fez was one-half of one of the greatest radio shows of all time…the Ron & Fez show. Whether on WNEW in New York City, or WJFK in Washington, DC, or SiriusXM Satellite Radio, or 92.3 Free FM in NYC, the Ron & Fez show was one of the most unique, original, and magical shows ever.

I was lucky enough to get a job with Ron & Fez in 2005…and worked for them until 2010…and they were some of the best years of my life. Wild, dramatic, fun, insane, and awesome. Ron Bennington and Fez Whatley created a world that was simply unlike any other on radio. It was an audio landscape of unpredictability, electricity, humor, and togetherness. There truly was nothing like it in radio or podcasting or anywhere else for that matter.

Fez, as an entertainer, was amazing. Willing to give it all and put himself out there fearlessly. As a person, he was full of life and energy and was a mentor to me (especially at the beginning of my career with Ron & Fez). With Fez’s passing, an incrediible era of radio has passed as well. He will be greatly missed. RIP, Fez.
